I love a good seasonal home decor and when Spring arrives and the suns peaks inside our homes, who doesn’t like inviting the season to the table.

Whether you’re hosting a family gathering or a cozy dinner for two, adding a touch of spring to your table setting can create a warm and inviting atmosphere for everyone to enjoy.

In this blog post, we’ll explore some creative ideas to help you decorate your dinner table for the Spring/Summer season, but first you will need to establish your starting point. Do you have a beautiful quality dinner set that you have been using each year since it was gifted to you as a wedding gift? Or is it this amazing tablecloth that you would never dream of parting with?

Whatever it is, you need to start somewhere and build from it. I personally would always recommend you start with your dinnerware and adapt around it to bring it into the new season, but the choice is yours, of course.

Ok let’s dive into it, and in this post we will cover the following:

Essential Elements of Spring Table Decor

→ The importance of your Color Palette

We all know that Spring is synonymous with renewal and brightness, and so incorporating colours that reflect this will instantly make you feel like Spring is right here.

Opt for soft pastels like lavender, mint, and pale yellow or vibrant tones like pink, sky blue, and fresh green. These colours can all be introduced through tablecloths, napkins, plates, and even glassware but you don’t need to change everything to do so.

→ Introduce Natural Elements

Nothing says spring like flowers and plants. Add small vases with fresh cut flowers like tulips, daffodils, or peonies to your table. You can also use potted herbs not only as decor but also to add aroma and freshness to your table setting.

→ Pay particular attention to your table linens

Opt for lightweight fabrics like linen or cotton that evoke a breezy, springtime feel. Layering different fabrics and patterns can add depth and texture to your table setting, so don’t be afraid to experiment with combinations.

This year we want love table linens with stripes, gingham, flowers, added ruffles or if you prefer it simple, aim for a plain colour tablecloth as a base to the rest of your decor.

Table Setting Ideas

→ For everyday

A basic yet beautiful setting can make everyday dinner time a much nicer experience.

Ok, I am not going to assume that most night you are anywhere inclined to beautify your table, especially if the teens are in charge, however you may want Sunday lunch or an out of the ordinary meal to feel a bit special.

If that’s the case, start with a neutral tablecloth as a base. Place a dinner plate at each setting, topped with a folded napkin to the side and the cutlery arranged neatly.

Fill and place on the table a nice water jug and salt and pepper shakers on the table, and if you feel really fancy, a simple glass vase with a couple of seasonal flowers or a small potted plant can serve as a centerpiece that doesn’t overpower.

→ For special occasion

Now when occasions are special, perhaps a family celebration or a spring dinner party, each detail counts.

Begin with adding a stylish table runner, it will add depth to your table.

You can also use chargers or placemats under your dinner plates for an elegant look, and layer your plates, like a soup bowl or salad plate for the different courses that you will bring to the table.

Have fun experimenting with napkin folding—perhaps a pocket fold for placing seasonal flowers or a simple utensil pouch. The possibilities are endless and at your disposal thanks to the world wide web.

Consider also using stemware to add an elegant touch, with separate glasses for water and beverages.

Decor ideas that you can DIY

Add a Floral Centerpiece

Create a charming and inexpensive floral centerpiece by using seasonal blooms.

Grab a medium-sized clear jar or vase and stuff it with floral foam. Then, play around with flowers of different heights and colors, arranging them so your centerpiece looks vibrant and lush from every angle.

→ Make your own Placemats and Napkins

Using fabric adorned with spring motifs like flowers, birds, or butterflies make your own set of placemats and napkins.

For added durability be sure to hem the edges, ensuring they can withstand multiple uses.

Now if you have extra time, want some added cuteness and if you are a bit of a wiz with a sewing machine, why not add ruffles or scallop edges?

Everything looks beautiful and magical through the glow of candles.
